Identity for Bog Bothy a project from The Irish Architecture Foundation and 12th Field. A purpose-built shelter and gathering space for deep engagement with the bog that builds on the design language of Ireland’s peatlands. A touring temporary bothy built to house artist residency, Exhibitions, Peatlands panel talks, walks, workshops, and performances across climate action, architecture, and future heritage.
The tine ghealáin or Will-o'-the-wisp is a mysterious ghostly, flickering light seen over bogs at night. Often believed to be a malevolent spirit leading travelers astray to their doom. Subverting this to draw people back to the bog not for death but to breathe new life into the Bog. We created a custom typeface out of the tine ghealáin. An edit of The Pyte Foundry's Gyrator.
